My massage basics

I have a number of ways to work with people. On a massage table, massage chair or shiatsu mat. I can be portable with the shiatsu mat, using the chair and table primarily for incalls.


Each massage will be customized to your unique needs, appropriate for your body and where it is at on the day of your session. I will ask questions about your pain, stress and discomfort levels. I will want to know about previous injuries and surgeries and what hopes you have for the session. Most sessions involve slowly warming up the muscles of the body, encouraging your breathing to assist you in releasing the physical and emotional tensions that our bodies store and guard. Work over repeated sessions can involve postural re-alignment, teaching you exercises and offering suggestions to assist you in your quest for a pain free, stress reduced life. By emphasizing your breathing, following your bodies natural energy channels, and systematically stretching and relaxing your overworked muscles, together we help them find relief. I also work with you to strengthen those opposing muscles that were not carrying their weight, often one of the culprits causing the overused muscle in the first place.


Massage services are strictly non-sexual. Inappropriate behavior or comments are not welcomed or tolerated. I reserve the right to terminate a session at any point for any reason, including inappropriate behavior.


Shiatsu massage?

A typical shiatsu session is both relaxing and energizing as the therapist employs pressure while moving about the body in a rhythmic, flowing sequence. All major muscle groups are stretched and all joints in the body are mobilized, restoring energetic harmony and a sense of bodily awareness.


Shiatsu is a deep, invigorating style of massage developed over millennia and brought to western shores in the 20th Century. “Shiatsu” literally means “finger pressure.” Similar to acupressure, shiatsu harmonizes the body’s energy by applying thumb and palm pressure to 14 major energy channels (meridians).


Whether you get a “mostly Shiatsu” session or a mixed modality session, you will get elements of all my training influences. I am confident together we can find an appropriate massage for your needs.


How do you prepare for your massage?

Please be clean. Avoid smoking, makeup, perfumes, colognes, and noticeable fragrances. Please also keep your clothes and feet fresh.


Shiatsu is best done with you wearing a long sleeve shirt on top, and pajama bottoms, sweats or yoga pants. Material not too thick or too baggy is preferable.


Try to avoid eating or excess drinking for two to three hours prior to a massage. Coming to a massage under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is highly discouraged. Please inform me if you are pregnant, or of any injuries or surgeries that you have, or have had recently.
